Wordpress Namibia chooses Goss Community SSC

FULL STORY
Namibia Southern Africa printer, Wordpress, has signed an order with
Goss International for a four-tower Goss Community SSC press to print leading tabloid daily newspaper The Namibian.

Wordpress is a new joint venture enterprise with a purpose built, state-of-the-art facility in Windhoek, capital of Namibia. Once installation is complete, it will become one of only two web offset printers in the country. Leading this venture are Wolfram Jauss, managing director of the company, and editor of The Namibian, Tangeni Amupadhi.

Wolfram Jauss commented, ‘The market has changed in recent years and we feel the time is right for a new printing entity here in Namibia in order to maximise future potential. We are very excited to be working with Goss and can't wait for production to start at the new facility.’

The new Community SSC press configuration replicates the capabilities of the company's web offset rival, including two SSC folders to ensure maximum production and format flexibility. ‘Goss presses are tried and tested, a safe and reliable solution, which is exactly what we need,’ commented Jauss. ‘The Community SSC press will give us the capability to produce a wide range of product formats. With this production flexibility, we anticipate developing significant new revenue streams in the form of contract print work for the local region and potentially beyond.’

Configured as four four-high towers with a 578mm cut-off and two SSC folders, the new Community press will have the potential to print up to 32-page tabloid publications in full colour in a single pass.

According to John Chambers, sales manager for Goss in the region, ‘The Goss Community SSC press is the perfect solution for companies like Wordpress where fast, reliable start-up with immediate high productivity is key to success.’

The Community SSC press is currently undergoing installation and will be in production in early 2015.

The Namibian, one of the largest national daily newspapers, founded in 1985 holds a strong tradition for editorial independence and serves the Namibian people through its print and online forums. It features a range of supplements and special editions and has an average circulation of 40,000 copies, with Friday distribution regularly peaking as high as 70,000 copies.
