• Ostschweiz Druck AG invests in two Speedmaster XL 106 presses, a Suprasetter 106, a Polar high-speed cutter, and a comprehensive service package
• Milestone for further business development

Ostschweiz Druck AG in Wittenbach, Switzerland, has signed a big order with Heidelberg. From summer this year, a Speedmaster XL 106-6+L, a Speedmaster XL 106-4-P+L, a Suprasetter 106 CTP platesetter, and a Polar N 137 AT Pace Autoturn high-speed cutter will be installed at the print shop.
This represents the largest investment in the company’s history. ‘We see this major order as a milestone in our further development. The latest-generation equipment will enable us to offer our customers an even better range and an even faster service,’ stressed Rino Frei, owner and managing director of Ostschweiz Druck. ‘All the equipment also benefits from the Heidelberg service portfolio, which we see as another important part of the package to ensure smooth and reliable production,’ he added.
Ostschweiz Druck AG is a family business with a workforce of 65 and sales of 16 million Swiss francs. The print shop operates three shifts and produces all kinds of commercial products, including magazines, catalogues, brochures, and flyers. The average run length is just under 7,000 sheets per job and the main customer base is in Switzerland.
Cutting-edge equipment for industrial production
Operating at 42 plates per hour, the Suprasetter 106 is the fastest model and benefits from the first pallet-loading system in Switzerland with a capacity of several hundred printing plates. The automatic Polar Pace cutter will be supplied with rear table loading and the ability to rotate. The Speedmaster XL 106 six-colour press and the convertible Speedmaster XL 106 four-colour press are designed for a production speed of 18,000 sheets per hour. Both will be integrated into the workflow via the Prinect Pressroom Manager and are equipped with the Autoplate XL automatic plate changing system and the Prinect Inpress Control inline measuring system. The latter controls and monitors ink and register on the fly, which delivers exceptional productivity.
Ostschweiz Druck AG has shown itself to be one of the most competitive print shops. It is one of the top-ranking companies in Europe in Prinect Performance Benchmarking, the online system from Heidelberg that accurately analyses performance. One of the best results, 240 million sheets, has been achieved by the Speedmaster XL 105-6+L installed in spring 2008, which is now to be replaced along with the Speedmaster XL 105-4-P.
