New Antalis South Africa HR Director appointment

FULL STORY
Simona Marchese has been appointed as Director, Human Resources, and to the Board of Antalis South Africa (Pty) Limited from 1 March 2015.

This follows recognition of the strategic importance of the HR function within the organisation said, managing director, Raymond Waldeck. ‘We have always known that our people are one of our key strengths. Fulfilling this position is a reflection of this and of the continued emphasis on people in our organisation going forward.’

He says this is even more so in light of the changes that the industry is going through. ‘We are in a watershed period and how we approach the next few years will determine how we are positioned in the future. We know where we want to be and our investment into HR is part of this strategy.’

Simona said she felt comfortable at Antalis from day one. ‘It was a good fit from the word go. I immediately felt an affiliation for the team and environment they have created.’

She is looking forward to making a contribution to the company. ‘With the industry at a cross roads, maximum emphasis needs to be placed on leveraging human potential to meet organisational goals and successfully enter into the new era. I am confident in my ability in enabling, empowering and engaging our employees for this purpose.’

With 14 years in the management of Human Resources and Industrial Relations in large, multi-national FMCG and manufacturing organisations, Simona brings a vast experience to the company.

She has a BComm (legal) and an Honours in Advanced HR Management and Labour Relations. She has also lectured HR Management, Industrial Relations and Business Management at the University of the Witwatersrand and has published a book on Employment Equity.

‘It is gratifying to see how business, in general, has begun to understand that HR is a strategic strength that, when aligned to the business objectives, can be key in a business' success,’ concluded Marchese.
